But in cases where electronic module or device is expensive, like in car’s, it is much more affordable to repair, or replace for used module then to buy new one. Many times price of new goes way abowe price of complete vehicle. We have equipment and experience to repair.

Failed tuning examples

Searching on the internet there is so many articles how to chiptune your car. Most of them are pointing you to certain web shops where you can buy tools for 50ish euro, and then guides you to the store where you can buy perfect map/tune made for your car only for just a few dollars.

There is so many tuners advertising they can chip tune your car for just quarter of price serious tuning company is charging. Reading about it you can think, yeah, why not. It is just cable that plugs to diagnostic socket. Laptop that is connected on internet and few clicks, job done.

Think twice. So many questions to answer before you make decission!

Does this cheap tuner has Genuine tools to perform a job?
What when something goes wrong?
Will this tuner get support from factory that made clone tool and selling it for price lower than one cable costs in genuine equipment?
What if process of tuning fails, and your engine ECU is “bricked”? Will he cover the cost of new, or fix yours and make your car running again?
What if tuning is made with lean mixture that burns your valve seats? What if it is rich mixture that can make hole in your piston? Or two much smoke that causes excessive fuel consumption and EU fails?

This engine ECU was opened because clone tool could not read tuning through OBD port, it had to be done as a “bench job”. Bad tuning in first place caused a lot of problems with vehicle, and bad sealing of engine control unit caused water ingress that permanently destroyed control unit.

This e46 BMW was smoking like old train locomotive when accelerator was pressed. This is example while car was standing. During drive it was even worse. Car of course failed emission tests on EU control, and it was diagnosed bad fuel injectors. Installing original map on the engine ECU smoke was gone like it never existed and car was approved instantly.
